Wild Child

I’m writing as a wild child at heart. It is sometimes difficult to calm that child in me and DBT helped me to learn how to listen carefully to that child. I want to thank my sangha for being such open-minded and transparent hearted people. We recently got our last retreat with Orgyen Ratna past Saturday. We’ve been through some interesting times. Some awakening calls were a lot louder than it was in the past years. I learned how to calm my waters after heavy storms. Even though my inner child enjoys that chaos sometimes, I learned to bring back the calm with meditation. I really liked the example of the glass globe Orgyen used to describe the clarity meditation brings to us. We all hold our globes, our minds, on our hands and it’s no one else but us who shakes the globe that creates the blurriness. But if we stop shaking, just let our minds settle down, feel what is meant to be felt, let go of our ego; we get the clarity back. And once our globe is clear, our vision is open, now we can see other globes around us. More we clear our vision; more we can help others to clear theirs. The world never stops turning, we only realize it once our globes stop spinning. Being present comes with a clear state of mind. Once I learned how to control my breath, I realized I had the control of the hand that was shaking the globe. Protect your inner child, let them shake the globe as many times as they want to, let them be stubborn, that’s how we learn. Remember that no storm is permanent, and it is followed by the calm. I hope we can all protect the light and love of a newborn, the curiosity of a child, the caring nature of an old soul. But it is only possible in our breathing, present self. My heart to yours, keep it wild, keep it calm.
